The Farmington Community Library Board of Trustees voted unanimously (6-0) to waive rental fees for meeting rooms at the Library at a regular board meeting on Thursday, February 8, 2024. FCL Board meeting minutes and videos are available here.

Fees for renting the meeting spaces will remain in place through the end of the Library’s fiscal year on June 30, 2024. Community members making reservations for FCL meeting rooms for dates on or after July 1 will not be charged a fee. Several meeting rooms of varying sizes are available to reserve that can accommodate groups of 7 to 235 people.

“Removing room rental fees is just another step forward on the path laid out by our 7-year Strategic Plan,” said Kelley Siegrist, Director of FCL. “Our first strategic goal, ‘Create Community,’ means providing barrier-free access to Library spaces that encourage collaboration and inclusion.”

During the 2022-2023 fiscal year, the Library collected $13,490 in meeting room rental fees, making up only .19% of the Library’s revenue that year. There was a total of 219 meeting room rentals and 7,266 attendees at these meetings.

Policies managing Library room rentals will remain the same. Rooms may be reserved by FCL cardholders who are at least 18 years of age. Each FCL cardholder can reserve a room up to 12 times in the calendar year. Meetings must be open to the public and free of charge. Groups reserving the room must not imply Library sponsorship of their program or organization in their publicity.
