Farmington Community Library 2009–2010 Teen Creative Writing Competition



Categories

  • Fiction: 1–7 Pages, typed . A literary work whose content is produced by the imagination and a total invention.
  • Poetry: 3–100 lines, typed. A piece of literature written in rhythm and/or rhyme.
Judges will consider these qualifications when reviewing submissions:
  • originality
  • grammatical correctness
  • spelling
  • organization
  • word choice
  • imagery

Submission Requirements:

  • 12 point font
  • Times New Roman, Courier, Helvetica or Arial font
  • Double-spaced copy
  • No graphics or specialty fonts
  • Work must be original to the entrant
  • No previously published works accepted
  • 1 work per category accepted

After filling out an entry form, you must then submit your work through e-mail as a Word or text attachment to tcwc@farmlib.org

Please do not include your name on your submission—only the title should be on the work to preserve anonymity in judging.

Submissions accepted from September 28, 2009 through January 29, 2010 by 6:00 p.m.

All residents and/or students of Farmington/Farmington Hills 6th–12th grade in public, private or parochial schools are eligible.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded in each category for each age division:

  • First Place: $100
  • Second Place: $75
  • Third Place: $50

Winners will be honored at a small ceremony in Spring, 2010.
