The Farmington Community Library is committed to reaching out to our community beyond the walls of the Library’s Branches. In addition to our Web site, which is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, Library staff are dedicated to meeting the information needs of underserved or inadequately served target groups, such as disabled homebound, senior citizens in independent/ assisted living and nursing homes, as well as children and their caregivers, by targeting child care facilities, preschools, classes in public or private schools, community centers, residential care facilities, or local businesses or organizations also engaged in services to youth
For Children and Their Caregivers
Some outreach services currently offered by the Children’s Staff include:
- Outreach visits to support literacy or promote library programs and services
- Library tours
- Deposit collections for child care and preschool facilities
- Busy Bee Bulletin newsletter for early childhood professionals
- Themed materials reserved for use by child care and preschool facilities
- Material selection to supplement elementary or preschool lesson plans

For Seniors / Older Adults / Homebound Persons
The Farmington Community Library provides outreach services to older adults at more than twenty five senior residences, including independent living, assisted living, continuing care units and homebound residents. These services include book and other media delivery, monthly book clubs, cultural programs, Book Buddy visits and computer classes. Residents of Farmington and Farmington Hills who are no longer able to travel to the Library, can enjoy Library services by having library services visit them.
