There are 3 programs: AmeriCorps State & National which offers direct service to groups who are meeting critical community needs in education, public safety, health and the environment. AmeriCorps NCCC is a residential, team based program for ages 18-24 year olds, which focuses on the state within its regions. AmeriCorps VISTA is a domestic version of the Peace Corps, originally founded in 1965, offering full time service to community organization that serve low-income populations. It was folded into the expanded AmeriCorps in 1993.
