We are the Farmington Friends of the Library! 1,300+ people like you who love to read and learn and then pass that love along to others.
From the welcoming face of the book-juggling mime balanced on the tightrope just inside our 12 Mile Road location to the hearth side reading space by the fireplace in our Farmington branch, you’ll see evidence of the Friends’ efforts in action throughout the Library.
Friends actively work to strengthen the Farmington Community Library by advocating and seeking funding to help the Library meet its goals of promoting literacy, providing an educational environment, fostering life-long learning and recreation for adults, and promoting access to information through the use of technology.
The Farmington Friends of the Library approved over $115,000 in commitments to Library services through June 2014 for:
Special programs for children, teens, and adults which includes the Battle of the Books, Summer Reading Clubs, the Senior Story Tellers programs, authors visits and many other programs.
Adult Services (books, ebooks, online resources, programs, Library publications).
Library upgrades, including: special display panels at the Farmington Branch, additional seating in the Main Library Auditorium, and digital display monitors at the entrance of the Main Library).
Funds raised through membership dues and used book sales help the Farmington Friends of the Library give the gift of reading to our community every day. The Friends also receive a small portion of every purchase you make through our Amazon link.
Library staff use these funds to add books, CDs, DVDs, Playaways and Video Games to supplement the Library's planned purchases. The Friends also sponsor children's reading programs, support student programs, and host special programs and events for all ages throughout the year.

Moving Your Library Forward
The Farmington Friends of the Library are helping shape the future of learning and living in our community, because our goals make new features a reality at both the Farmington and Farmington Hills Branches. The Friends have been instrumental in initiating services that our visitors now take for granted—Internet access from the library, a circulating collection of DVDs, CDs, and Mp3s, and digitization with online access via our Website of the Farmington Observer among them.

Every contribution helps us fund more book and DVD purchases than the Library's budget allows. The larger the contribution, the greater our chances are for adding events and programs for all ages. There's something interesting happening at the Farmington or Farmington Hills branch nearly every day—help us keep that going!
