The
Festival of the Arts is open to the public without charge.
This
annual week-long festival provides an opportunity for all
members of the Farmington Community Arts Council (individual
and groups) to share their activities, purposes and projects
with
our community.
The
Festival begins on the last Sunday
in April with the Artist-in-
Residence and Service to the Arts Awards presented by the
Farmington Area Arts Commission. The winners of the Farmington
Artist Club also receive recognition on that day.
Throughout
the week, the Festival sponsors several
"special days"
for students, city employees and senior citizens.
Members of the Farmington Artist Club demonstrate
their processes for interested fourth grade students. School
music groups perform for visiting students as well.
Evening
visitors to the Exhibit Hall are frequently entertained by
instrumental musicians from the Farmington Community Band
and Farmington Musicale.
Other
highlights include
a Gala Preview Dinner Party on the Saturday evening before
the grand opening on Sunday.
The
Festival concludes with the annual concert honoring senior
citizens and handicapped presented by the Farmington Community
Band and Chorus.
